RMA Land Construction Inc. (RMA) is performing as the prime contractor working closely with Lead Design Firm, URS, for the design-build renovation of the 8,000 SF Radiological Control Department on the first floor, Building 11, located within Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard (PHNSY), Pearl Harbor, HI. Work is being performed in two phases. Phase I includes the demolition of the annex area, which was damaged beyond repair by extensive termite infestation. The new design will then be constructed within the existing footprint. Phase II consists of repairs to the remaining first floor of Bldg. 11, which encountered water infiltration damage through the concrete foundation.
Sustainable design strategies and features are being integrated to include, low-flow plumbing fixtures and energy efficient T8 lamps and electronic ballasts. Approximately 80% of the new Annex building will be provided with natural daylighting for daily operations via a clerestory structure, centrally located above the Open Office area. The sunlight will be filtered through a translucent wall panel system with light refracted through light-color painted walls and exposed structural roof truss system.
