At the Marine Corps Marine Warfare Training Center (MCMWTC) in Bridgeport, RMA was the prime contractor for design-build expansion of an existing military base fitness center, construction of an overhead storage cover, and installation of a new modular building for the Family Service Center. The Family Service Center will be home to a New Parent Support Program, Chaplain, Medical Clinic, barbershop, area for teens to meet, and office space for the Marine and Family Director and Administrative Assistant.
Work features on this project included: construction of a permanent steel 40-foot x 90-foot overhead cover for storage at the MCMWTC gym; mechanical systems, including the rerouting of water and sewer mains to provide room for cover footings; electrical systems, including relocation of underground building electrical to provide room for cover footings; paving and site improvements, including storm water management, earthwork, and grading; construction of a heavily-insulated 110-unit 10-foot x 10-foot storage building at the existing housing storage area; site grading for proper drainage with a base of compacted stone for parking; removal and demolition of the old Family Service Center; and construction and installation of a new permanent modular 1,500 square-foot facility.
