DESIGN-BUILD PRE-ENGINEERED BUILDING (PEB) CONSTRUCTION & M9 RENOVATION

Customer: Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southwest Division
Location: Naval Amphibious Base, Coronado, CA

RMA was the prime contractor in the design and new construction and renovation of a 5,160 square foot Pre-engineered building (PEB) for a base vehicle and equipment maintenance facility, and 10,640 square feet of M9 office and operations facility renovation at Naval Air Station (NAS) – Coronado in San Diego, CA. Scope of work included demolition; grading; earthwork; pre-engineered building fabrication (PEB); interior/exterior finishes; painting; HVAC; data and communication line installation; plumbing; mechanical, utilities; and electrical. New construction included: restrooms, offices, lunch room, and men’s and women’s locker rooms.

The PEB is used as a vehicle and equipment maintenance facility for the entire Naval Air Station. The state-of-the-art vehicle maintenance facility includes hydraulic lifts, large bay entry doors for equipment and vehicles, and an office, bathroom, and shower for personnel. Building M9 was utilized as a laboratory for water testing and sampling around the Naval Air Station. The renovation activities reduced the laboratory to half its size to accommodate personnel working in the PEB maintenance facility. The newly renovated M9 will provide maintenance workers with a lunch room, locker room, managerial offices, administrative offices, and dispatch areas. This project was completed on time, within budget, and with zero safety incidents and the Navy acknowledged RMA’s above and beyond efforts with a Letter of Commendation.

Sustainable Design: RMA incorporated skylights for natural daylighting, low flow toilets, low flow plumbing fixtures, Energy Star water heater, energy efficient radiant heaters and fluorescent lighting with sensors.
