DESIGN-BUILD NEW 26,910 SF MARINE CORPS RESERVE TRAINING CENTER

Customer: U.S. Department of the Navy
Location: Naval Weapons Station, Seal Beach, CA

RMA Land Construction, Inc. (RMA) is performing as the prime contractor for this design-build new construction of a single-story, 26,910 SF Marine Reserve Training Center (MRTC) and 6,332 SF vehicle holding shed at the Naval Weapons Station, Seal Beach, CA. The new facility will supplement the existing Marine Corps Reserve Center (MCRC) to provide additional training space and joint use of the existing MCRC facilities, as the 5th Battalion, 14th Marines relocate from MCRC Pico Rivera to MCRC Seal Beach.

The new site includes a concrete parking area for tactical vehicles, porous asphalt pavement parking lot, roadways and sidewalks, and landscaping. Low Impact Development (LID) strategies are incorporated into the site design and will contribute to the sustainability features. The building is designed to achieve the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED®-NC Version 3 Gold Level Certification.

RMA is providing special impact-resistant wall finish material in the drill hall, supply warehouse, and storage areas, plus upgraded finishes to match those in the existing Reserve Center facilities, and energy-efficient systems such as natural day lighting, rooftop solar photovoltaic system, Energy Star appliances, and solar- powered parking lot lighting. We are also providing larger conduits for future expansion, enhanced landscaping, electronic as-builts, and 3-D Design Modeling.

This project is currently progressing on schedule.
