PRIMARY FENCE ALONG U.S./MEXICO BORDER

Customer: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
LOCATION: Design-Build U.S./Mexico Border Fence, San Diego County, CA

RMA was the prime contractor on this fast-tracked design-build, site-adapt and construction of the primary fence along the U.S./Mexico Border. Partnering with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, RMA designed and constructed new fencing at three different sites along 15.5 miles of international border. The combined $17.2 projects called for grading, excavation, concrete and design/installation of new fence panels for West of Tecate, AG Loop and La Gloria Canyon.

The project presented significant safety, logistical and site challenges. Site characteristics ranged from mountainous and rocky areas to ravines. RMA developed site-specific safety plans and strictly adhered to protocol to mitigate safety hazards. Weekly meetings were conducted to plan ahead for material and equipment needs. RMA performed blasting in permitted areas of rough terrain, but also retained meticulous care to protect areas with environmentally sensitive habitat. RMA earned an Outstanding Performance Evaluation from the Corps.
