D/B TRAFFIC MITIGATION MEASURES GATES 3 & 4

Customer: U.S. Department of the Navy
Location: National Naval Medical Center (NNMC), Bethesda, MD

RMA Land Construction, Inc. (RMA) is performing as the prime contractor on the design and construction to provide automated Entry Control Facilities (ECFs) at Gates 3 & 4 at the Walter Reed National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. The objective of an ECF is to secure the installation from unauthorized access and intercept contraband while maximizing vehicular traffic flow. The ECF’s at Gates 3 & 4 are an extension of the existing base perimeter and will serve as secondary entry gates.

The secure posts at Gates 3 & 4 will be comprised of a pre-fabricated Guard Booth situated on an island between inbound and outbound lanes, and canopied for security checks. The Guard Booth will include one guard house measuring approximately 7’ x 21’, restroom, storage closet, and an emergency power generator. Architectural design of Gates 3 & 4 are aesthetically guided by the art deco style of the signature building, “The Tower”, as envisioned by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1937 with its formal symmetries, articulated horizontally and vertically with step-backs.

This project is currently progressing on schedule.
