DESIGN-BUILD REPAIR AND IMPROVE PARKING LOT F

Customer: Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), Hawaii
Location: Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, HI

RMA performed as the prime contractor for the design-build repair of approximately 33,500 SY of asphaltic concrete and the installation of new light standards at Parking Lot F, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, HI. Scope of work called for the removal of existing asphalt pavement, filling depressions, repaving, restriping, traffic control pavement markings, signage, parking lot lighting, landscaping, and automated irrigation system. The site improvements provided functional and operational enhancements, anti-terrorism/force protection and physical security upgrades, and aesthetic compatibility with the surrounding environment.

During the initial construction activities, historical train rails used to transport personnel and materials from a pre-World War II train station were discovered. To preserve the wooden rails, a decision was made to adjust the finish elevation of the parking lot. RMA conducted work meticulously and coordinated with NAVFAC and the State Historic Preservation Office to ensure there was no disturbance to the historical artifact.
