RMA Land Construction, Inc. (RMA) is performing as the prime contractor on the design and construction to horizontally expand the existing sanitary landfill by 51,500 SF (5,084 cubic meters) to include a non-permeable, double composite liner system at Andersen Air Force Base (AAFB), Yigo, Guam. The expansion is on the upgradient side of the disposal cells in order to direct the leachate into the existing leachate collection and removal system.
With high wind conditions prevalent in Guam, the principal risk for the landfill is the lining system and associated geo-synthetics, which are vulnerable to damage from wind. Our design includes protective soil coverings for geo-synthetic components. During construction, measures are being implemented to ensure that temporary and/or in-progress work is adequately protected against all weather conditions.
The project is currently progressing within budget and with zero lost-time safety incidents.
