BOUNDARY TREATMENT ZONE, AIR SPARGE BARRIER INSTALLATION

Customer: NASA
Location: NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA

RMA was the prime contractor to install an air sparge barrier along the boundary of the NASA Ames Research Center. The objective was to construct a subsurface collection system approximately eight feet below grade and to construct an above-ground carbon treatment system to remediate both soil and groundwater contaminated by chlorinated solvents and fuels.

The primary features of work include site preparation, trenching, and installation of a subsurface air sparge (AS) system, a horizontal soil vapor extraction (SVE) system, conveyance piping and fittings, necessary electrical equipment, groundwater monitoring wells, and vapor monitoring points. Once the remediation/treatment system was in place, RMA and our subcontractor performed site restoration, paving, and surveying.
