RMA Land Construction, Inc. performed as the general contractor with ECC on the design and new construction of the 51,000 square foot Consolidated Fitness Center at Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA. Our design-build team collaborated with AFCEE under the Heavy Engineering Repair & Construction (HERC) contract to design a state-of-the-art facility that met criteria for functionality, aesthetic appeal, and sustainability. The $15.5M facility incorporated LEED® green building standards and systems selected to achieve the lowest life cycle cost over a 30-year period with accommodations for future expansion.
Serving the physical fitness needs of the Airmen are a 20,000 square foot gymnasium with three basketball and three volleyball courts and a 9,000 square foot exercise room that offers a variety of cardio equipment and free weights. The facility also includes three basketball courts, three volleyball courts, showers and lockers, massage and sauna facilities and a sandwich/juice bar.
Challenged with an aggressive, fast-track 15-month performance period, RMA delivered the facility ahead of schedule, earning the highest honor of a “Blue” rating from the Air Force and a Letter of Commendation for Outstanding performance.
