Location: Naval Air Station (NAS) North Island, San Diego, CA
RMA was the prime contractor for design-build repairs to Building 251, a two-story, 53,462 square-foot wood-framed building. The work included repairs to electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, ceilings, flooring and carpeting, and doors, as well as asbestos abatement, interior and exterior painting, restrooms rehabilitation, ADA compliance upgrades, and fire safety upgrades.
Work features included: demolition; grading; concrete foundation footings and slab on grade; site utilities, including water, sanitary and storm sewers, natural gas, industrial waste and electrical systems; superstructure of the building, including floor and roof framing, columns, interior load-bearing walls and lateral-force resisting system; plumbing; fire protection sprinklers; conversion of gas heating system to hydronics hot water system with radiators and piping; HVAC system upgrade; Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS); fire alarm and Mass Notification System; interior finishes and window treatments; exterior stucco and paint finishes; and site improvements, including roadways, parking lots, pedestrian paving and landscaping.
Electrical system upgrades included service entrance wiring and equipment; distribution and lighting panel boards; dry-type transformers; conduit; feeder and branch circuits; motor control equipment; lighting and branch wiring; communications, security and alarm systems; emergency generator; lighting and power; lightning protection and 400-Hz converters.
RMA earned an Outstanding Performance Evaluation on this project.
